This product is a great solution for reducing harvest rotor loss.

The Interrupter Bar fits on the 31 small wire concave in first position.

Kassie van der Westhuizen, Harvest Specialist, recommends for optimum threshing recommend additional 25.  A John Deere 31 wire concave already has 24 interrupter bars installed. Installing another 25 will improve threshing. Minimum addition of 10 on one concave to notice a difference.

Cover Plates vs Interrupter bars:

Cover plates, while also a good option for threshing small grain, make the threshing opening area smaller. Whilst Interrupter Bars keep the threshing area more open for an improved flow of material through the machine. 

If you install the interrupter bar, does it need to be taken out for other crops?

No, the Interrupter Bar can remain in the concave for majority of crops and conditions.
